January 1st, 1995, Miami, FL. Entire 1995 Orange Bowl game. Network broadcast footage. Huffing and puffing, the touted Miami defensive line folds and then collapses under the thunderous onslaught of Husker power after 3 sultry quarters in the old Orange Bowl. Tommie Frazier, Brook Berringer, Cory Schlesinger, and Lawrence Phillips pound and peck away through the night while the Pipeline wears down Warren Sapp and friends. NU blows by the Hurricanes, outscoring them 15-0 in the 4th quarter to secure Nebraska’s first National Title in 23 seasons. Trailing 10-7 at half-time, coach Tom Osborne promises his players “If you keep your cool, they will make a mistake at a critical time that will really cost them.” Christian Peter is listening, and when Miami’s center takes a swing, Christian smiles as the ref throws his flag. Backed up to the goal line, it isn’t long before the Blackshirts blast Costa in the end zone for a safety, sparking a 17 point rally and an exorcism of Orange Bowl ghosts from years gone by. DVD video, 150 minutes.
